Website 43/100 · SEO 40/100 · AI Search 46/100. Editorial scores from six equally weighted dimensions per pillar, using only what is publicly visible. You didn’t need to give us access to anything. The scoring method at the end shows the breakdown and coverage limits.

A fast site that phones can’t read

Make the site readable on a phone

The site has no mobile viewport setting. At a 390-pixel phone width the browser renders the full 1,017-pixel desktop layout and shrinks it to fit, so the 14-pixel body text displays at roughly a third of its size. Visitors must pinch and zoom to read anything.

Why it matters: Many patients look up an eye doctor on their phone. A layout that adapts to the screen is the foundation every other improvement depends on.

Let patients call, or ask for an appointment, in one tap

None of the 22 pages checked has a tap-to-call phone link, and there is no appointment request on any page. The Optical copy still reads “To better serve our patients during this time, the Optical Department is now operating on an appointment-only basis.”

Why it matters: Every patient who wants to book has to copy a number by hand. Clear call buttons for each office, plus an appointment request, remove that friction.

Keep what works, and add a way to see what’s working

The good news is real. Pages answered in 29–41 milliseconds in the browser, and the domain’s email security (SPF, DKIM and a strict DMARC policy) is set up better than most practices. But no website analytics of any kind were found in the page source.

Why it matters: Without measurement, there is no way to know how many patients find you online, which pages they use, or what a website change is worth. A rebuild should keep the speed and add tracking from day one.

SEO

First on Google, held back by the profiles

Claim and strengthen both Google Business Profiles

The Port Townsend profile shows “Claim this business,” meaning no one at the practice controls it, and it is listed under the generic category “Doctor.” Poulsbo is rated 3.2★ (27 reviews) and Port Townsend 3.4★ (25). Among the 20 Poulsbo reviews we loaded, none had an owner reply. Neither profile has a business description, services, posts or owner photos. In both word orders of a Poulsbo cataract-surgery search, the map results showed Poulsbo Eyecare Center (4.9★, 125), Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute (4.8★, 238) and the Pacific Surgery Center listing, but not Pacific EyeCare.

Why it matters: For “near me” searches, the map listing is often the first thing a patient sees. An unclaimed profile can be edited by anyone, and unanswered low reviews shape the practice’s first impression.

Protect the rankings you already have

This is a genuine strength: pacificeyecare.com was the first web result in all 12 searches we checked, including “cataract surgery poulsbo wa,” “ophthalmologist poulsbo wa” and “eye doctor port townsend wa” in both word orders. But Semrush’s estimate of the keywords the site ranks for has fallen from 551 in April 2024 to 229 today, and the remaining traffic is mostly people searching the practice name.

Why it matters: Strong positions on a thin, aging site are vulnerable. Any rebuild must preserve current addresses and content while giving each service a page that can hold its ranking.

Give each page its own identity, and the site one address

17 of 22 pages carry the identical title “Pacific EyeCare,” the homepage title misspells Poulsbo as “Pousbo,” and 21 of 22 pages have no main heading. Dr. Nathe’s page description begins “Dr. Lin is…” and Dr. Ottemiller’s begins “Dr. O’Morchoe is…”. The www and non-www versions of the site both load with no preferred version declared, both appear in Google results, and there is no XML sitemap.

Why it matters: Search engines rely on these signals to understand what each page is about and which version to show. Unclear signals split credit between duplicate addresses.

How the scores were calculated & what was tested

These are ClickMonster editorial assessments, not Google, Lighthouse, Semrush Site Health or clinical-quality scores. Each pillar is the rounded average of six equally weighted dimensions. Ratings use this rubric: 0 absent/broken, 25 major deficiencies, 50 mixed foundation, 75 effective with gaps, 100 comprehensive verified strength.

Standard bands: 85–100 Strong; 70–84 Solid; 55–69 Needs work; 40–54 Underperforming; 0–39 Missing. Unknowns were not scored as failures. Ratings are directional judgments, not precise measurements.

Website coverage: 22 pages inspected in a real browser on desktop and at a 390-pixel phone width; page titles, headings, descriptions, phone links, forms and structured data recorded for each. Server response measured in the browser alongside a Google control. A deliberately invalid address returned a proper “not found” page. Email authentication read from public DNS records. Scripted requests from our test server received a “One moment, please” challenge page, so those readings were discarded rather than reported.

SEO coverage: six service-and-city searches in both word orders (12 total) for Poulsbo and Port Townsend, one load each. Local map results change often and can differ by searcher location. Semrush US organic snapshot and history. Public Google Business Profile views for both offices. Competitors held for future comparison: Poulsbo Eyecare Center, Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute, and Northwest Eye Surgeons.

AI coverage: nine completed answers on October 22, 2026: six Google AI Mode answers and three ChatGPT answers (four local recommendation questions, five brand or brand-detail questions). Google AI Mode ran in a signed-in browser, so personalization is possible; ChatGPT ran signed out. Perplexity was not tested. AI answers vary and are not reproducible. A manual review of the sources that appear for brand and top service searches (first five pages of Google) informed the review-site findings.

Google Ads, a quick check, not part of this review: we found no active Google Ads pointing to your domain. Everything in this review is visibility you are earning without paying for it.

No forms were submitted (none exist on the site), and no account access was used. This is not a full technical crawl, accessibility certification, security assessment, or clinical review. AI inclusion does not depend on special markup: Google’s AI features guidance says there are no additional requirements beyond normal Search eligibility.
